New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is well-aware of his failure to launch so far this season, but assured critical sports journalists that he’d improve, saying, “I’ve been working my tail off.” The marquee player is underperforming with a .270 batting average and just five home runs and 15 RBIs through 148 at-bats. Manager Joe Girardi also acknowledged Rodriguez’s slump and said that A-Rod, “is not driving the baseball as consistently as we’ve seen him do it in the past.”
