Chef Rick Bayless Celebrates Red O’s Second Birthday

To commemorate Red O’s two-year anniversary, Chef Rick Bayless has invited guests today and tomorrow, June 1, to a special Street Food Social Hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Best known for his highly rated PBS series, “Mexico—One Plate at a Time” and as the winner of Bravo’s “Top Chef Masters” in 2009, Bayless will be mingling with guests in the tequila lounge and outdoor patio, as well as signing copies of his latest cookbook, “Fiesta at Rick’s,” which will be available for purchase at the restaurant.

Bayless competed on “Top Chef Masters” where he beat out 23 other world-renowned chefs. Known for its authentic Mexican and lighter California-style dishes inspired from regions throughout Mexico, Red O’s resort-inspired look was awarded with “Best Design” from Esquire magazine in 2010, as well as one of the nation’s “Best New Restaurants.”

Those who’d like to continue the night’s festivities can stay at the restaurant once service begins at 6 p.m., in which Bayless will head back to the kitchen to cook up items from the new Mexican raw bar and ceviche menu.

Bayless and executive chef Efren Cardenas will also invite each party to sample the restaurant’s strawberry shortcake, one of Bayless’ favorite desserts, on the house in honor of the anniversary.

Red O’s Street Food Social Hour officially launched on May 23 and includes a selection of dishes such as $2 oysters with tomatillo-habanero mioneta, a $12 street food trip with smoked chicken taquitos and a $12 tostada trip with sashimi-style Alaskan salmon.
