Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: Rachel Roy F/W 2012 Presentation and After Party at Darby Downstairs

Rachel Roy’s F/W 2012 collection played on rich colors, monochromatic dressing, prints and effortless silhouettes. Roy’s adherence to feminine shapes has positioned her at the top of the industry, as a designer who really “gets it.” Roy is able to identify what women are desperately in search of each season, and translate her artistic perspective into clothing that is functional, wearable and exceptionally crafted.

Having made its debut at Alice Tully Hall, Roy’s F/W 2012 collection had attendees, such as Brad Goreski and Coco Rocha, raving. Inspired by the “modern landscape,” some of the looks paired deep hues of fuchsia, moss green and orange with chunky knits, billowing sleeves and oversized coats.

Later that day, Roy celebrated the unveiling at Darby Downstairs, where guests including Russell Simmons, Brandon Davis and Olivia Palermo sipped Perrier-Jouet champagne and enjoyed a musical performance by Theophilus London.
