The Best of Miami from The Best in Cuisine: Nobu’s Corporate Executive Chef, Thomas Buckley

Coming soon in the next issue of Haute Living Miami, Nobu’s Corporate Executive Chef, Thomas Buckley, gives Haute Living an inside look at how he began his career in the culinary field, who his heroes are and what makes Nobu Miami different. Until then, here are Buckley’s expert picks for some of the best places in Miami:

Best steakhouse: [The place] where I’ve had the best piece of meat? Probably the first time I went to Smith and Wollensky. Actually, scratch that, [the best steakhouse is] my house.

Best Italian in Miami: The original Casa Tua

Best pizza: I always like a nice, thin pizza. Harry’s is good.

Best lunch spot: Shake Shack

Best late night dining: Pubbelly

Best dessert: Nobu. We made one for New Year’s Eve that [had] pear with truffle, we called it “snowball,” so it had very lightly poached meringue with truffle ice cream inside.

Best place for a romantic date: Somewhere on the water

Best lounge/nightclub: Bardot is nice.

Best coffee: Panther Coffee in Wynwood

Best place to take out-of-town guests: Lunch at Scarpetta or dinner at Hakkasan, or 1500° at the Eden Roc
