One of the memorable quotes from The Hangover Part II has turned into the basis for a lawsuit between Louis Vuitton and Warner Bros.
One of the memorable quotes from The Hangover Part II has turned into the basis for a lawsuit between Louis Vuitton and Warner Bros. “Careful, that is a Louis Vuitton,” quips Alan as the four friends stroll through an airport. The problem? It’s not a real Louis Vuitton.
The luxury brand filed a federal trademark suit on December 22 for “trademark dilution, false designation of origin and unfair competition,” according to The Washington Post. The supposed designer handbag was really a knock-off made by Diophy and Louis Vuitton worries people will confuse the fake bag with the real thing.
Louis Vuitton asked Warner Bros. to remove the scene before the film was released and is requesting damages and a share of the profits. The French brand is also suing Diophy for producing counterfeit Louis Vuitton bags with the hopes of getting them banned in the United States.
