Haute Event: Steve Aoki Kicks Off the SS Aoki at Surrender Nightclub

Steve Aoki gets the party sailing at Surrender Nightclub.

Steve Aoki knows how to get the party started. The resident deejay and musical director of Surrender Nightclub at Encore Las Vegas takes the party to exhilarating heights through his nonstop whirlwind of edgy new grooves, jackhammer energy and his signature move: crowd surfing.

Traversing a crowd was taken to an all new fun extreme last night when Aoki — celebrating the release of his new album “Wonderland” — was surprised by the club when he was presented with the SS Aoki, a customized inflatable pirate ship complete with cannons, mast, captain’s wheel and flag.

Soon after the SS Aoki was “christened” at the deejay booth, Aoki stepped aboard the vessel and made his way across the sea of electronic dance music fans who went wild with excitement over the entertaining club stunt. A Surrender dancer joined him for part of the voyage as his “first mate” before Aoki dove into the crowd while spraying them with champagne even further energizing the ecstatic crowd.

Created by the San Diego-based company J.D. Inflatables, the SS Aoki was presented to Aoki because of his love of “white raver rafting,” as he likes to call it, and the Surrender crew wanted him to have something unique that would be special to him and his fans. The SS Aoki is expected to make regular appearances at Surrender.
