New look for Boyds Brasserie Bar and Lounge

Boyds Brasserie has unveiled a glamorous new image in advance of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, London Olympics, Cultural Olympiad and Paralympic Games next year.

Red Bird Design, whose previous projects include “Il Convivio” and “Brindisa”, was tasked with redeveloping the space – which now features towering marble walls, sculpted ceilings, stone fireplaces and grand chandeliers – and adding a touch of extra sparkle.

Upon entering the iconic Trafalgar Square venue, guests are greeted by a sumptuous lounge that is reminiscent of a bygone era.  Expect an eclectic ensemble of art deco furniture – black velvet flock patterned wing chairs with chrome runners rather than legs, retro leather sofas, hexagonal black felt stools and fabulous Kings Chairs all feature within the lounge while an assortment of brightly coloured rugs complement the marble floor.

Elsewhere the stunning black granite Champagne bar, adorned with antique mirrors, has been repositioned to the rear of the room and features new bar stools. Meanwhile in the restaurant, crisp white linen tablecloths and napkins plus white candles give an elegant appearance, while Philippe Starck ghost chairs add a contemporary twist and leather banquette seating and cushions subtly emblazoned with the Boyds logo, run along one wall.

But enough of the decor, what about the food I hear you cry! The emphasis is firmly on British fare: think Baked whole seabass, Roasted Gloucester chicken with gravy and Leek and Sussex charmer quiche with salsa verdi.  Puddings are priced at £6.50 each and a Peach Melba sundae and Chocolate tart with black cherry sorbet.
