Cocktail Culture: Winter in Venice Inspires Cocktails at the Venetian and Palazzo

The Negroni Festivo debuts at the bars and lounges at the Venetian and Palazzo today.

Today kicks off the Venetian and Palazzo’s inaugural Winter in Venice celebration that includes a musical performance from Grammy-nominated, platinum recording artist and season six “American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks.

While you might want to enjoy the Venetian’s Doge’s Palace, next to the outdoor gondolas, the stunning premiere of the nightly holiday spectacular at 6:30 p.m. that features the lighting of a 65-foot LED holiday tree or the ice skating rink, we’re excited about the new lineup of holiday cocktails at all of the resort’s bars and lounges through Jan. 8. Stop by Fusion, Laguna, La Scena, Oculus and Salute for some of these drinks, or just make them for yourself at home.

Piazza Prosecco

½ ounce Campari
½ ounce Grand Marnier
Top with Prosecco and serve in a Champagne flute garnished with a fresh raspberry.

Negroni Festivo
¾  ounce Campari
¾ ounce Martini Rosso sweet vermouth
1 ½ ounce Bombay Sapphire Gin
Served on the rocks with an orange cinnamon rim
Garnished with a candied orange peel

Festive Creations:
Campanile Cider

1 ½ ounce Frangelico
1 ounce Clove Infused Bacardi Red Peach Rum
½ ounce Fresh Lemon Juice
1 ounce Apple Juice
2 dashes Bar Code Baked Apple Bitters
Shake and strain into a cinnamon sugar-rimmed martini  glass

Gondolier Blanco
1 ounce White Chocolate liqueur
1 ounce White Creme de menthe
1 ounce White Creme de cocoa
½ ounce White Chocolate syrup
½ ounce cream
Shake and strain into a candy cane-rimmed martini glass that has been swirled with chocolate syrup.

The Godfather
¾ ounce Amaretto
1 ½ ounce Scotch Whiskey
Served on the rocks with a lemon twist.

Rialto Eggnog
1 ounce Captain Morgan
1 ounce Christian Brothers brandy
Dash ground cinnamon
Dash ground nutmeg
2 ounces egg nog
Shake and strain into martini glass and top with fresh grated nutmeg and cinnamon.

Hot Favorites

1 bottle Red wine
1 cup white sugar
8 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
1 fresh nutmeg
8 orange slices
Served in a  Winter in Venice coffee cup with mini biscotti

Café Italiano
½ ounce Amaretto
½ ounce Frangelico
Fresh brewed coffee, topped with whipped gram and cinnamon dust.
