Babbo owners open Fornata

The owners of award winning Italian restaurant Babbo (the 2011 Tatler Restaurant Guide hailed it as “London’s hottest Italian”), have opened a second venue in Soho.

Step forward Fornata (whose name derives from the Italian word ‘forno’, meaning oven) – a relaxed all day dining venue, spanning two floors.

As the restaurant’s name suggests, the menu (created  by chef Douglas Santi) revolves around oven-cooked dishes from southern Italy (including Sardella, Pollo alla Diavola and Mamma Rosa’s roast beef with tomatoes and onions) that lend themselves to sharing. There’s also a strong emphasis on pre-dinner aperitivo in the bar, served with antipasti small plates.

Regardless of whether you go for breakfast (expect traditional breads and pastries), a light bite or a full blown dinner, expect a stylish experience: staff uniform has been designed by students from the prestigious London College of Fashion.
