Haute Event: Hamish Bowles at the 2nd Annual Ali Forney Center OASIS Benefit

On Wednesday, July 20th, 2011 I attended the second annual Ali Forney Center OASIS benefit in parnership with Barclay Capital at The Bowery Hotel. On a crisp summer night New Yorks finest came out in support of the Ali Forney Center for a benefit that raises awareness and money for homeless gay youth in Manhattan. The evening was hosted by Pandora Boxx from the hit show RuPauls Drag Race. DJ Jonjon Battles kept the crowd grooving as guest sipped Chopkin Vodka cocktails. I even got a chance to chat it up with Vogue’s European Editor at Large Hamish Bowles about his fabulous custom made Alexander McQueen suit and custom made Christian Louboutins he wore to the 2011 Met Ball.

Guests were able to bid on a variety of amazing packages during the live auction from Alternative Apparel, ASOS, Jack and Kate Spade, Delta Airlines, British Airways, Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Elton John AIDS Foundation and Nickelodeon.

Guests included: Mickey Boardman, Hamish Bowles, Malan Breton, Mike Ruiz, Randy Jones, Sahara Davenport, Pandora Boxx, Robert Tagliapietra and more.

About the Ali Forney Center: The Ali Forney Center (AFC) was started in June 2002 in response to the lack
of safe shelter for LGBT youth in New York City. They have grown quickly to become the nation’s largest and most comprehensive organization dedicated to homeless LGBT youth. They are committed to providing LGBT youth with safe, dignified, nurturing environments where their needs can be met and where they can begin to put their lives back together. The center provides short and long term housing in Manhattan and Brooklyn, plus free medical care, HIV testing, mental health services, showers, food, computer access and job training and placement at its drop-in centers in Chelsea and Brooklyn. AFC hosts other benefits throughout the year such as the fall fundraiser, A Place at the Table, and the spring benefit, Broadway Beauty Pageant.
