Famed model-turned-luxury clothing designer and Mick Jagger’s long-time girl friend, L’Wren Scott has expanded her expertise from bold, colorful clothing and stunning red carpet gowns for celebrities like Amy Adams and Penelope Cruz, to lavish yet functional handbags.
The bag, called the Lula, is named after and inspired by Scott’s mother. For Scott, the chic and luxurious handbag collection is not about the materials, but the noise the clasp makes when you open and close the bag. “I always knew when I heard that noise that she was going out,” Scott said of her mother.
Scott refers to the Lula bag as a “forever bag” since it is a classic. The bag will be available in a variety of Bordeaux and mauve shades, and three sizes: small, large, and weekend, as well as numerous material choices including calfskin, crocodile, and python.
The Lula, available exclusively at Barneys, ranges in price with the smallest bag starting at $2,300 and the largest around $20,500. Since Barneys expects Lula to become one of the most coveted fall accessories, the bags will be available for preorder.
L’Wren Scott will be previewing her Fall 2011 handbag collection at Barneys on Madison Ave. this Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
