Haute Yachts: Firefly, A Superyacht in a Class of its Own

The Netherlands’ Hoek Design, one of the world’s leading offices for yacht design, naval architecture, and engineering, recently introduced the Firefly, just one design of a brand new series of F-class yachts. Firefly is the brainchild of an ongoing research project by Hoek. The goal for the new series was to build a small vessel that could beat a J-class yacht on the water in all sorts of weather conditions.

Hoek Design produced fifteen different yachts with varying measurements. Once the optimal size for the craft was constructed, the team went on the produce a yacht of the highest quality, the Firefly. It’s sleek outer lines, minimalist interior, and top-of-the-line mechanics landed the Firefly in its very own division, the F-class.

Firefly will make her debut at the Superyacht Cup in Palma, a superyacht regatta with some of the world’s finest vessels, June 23-26, 2011.
