Haute New Madison Avenue Restaurant Opens Monday

Duo, a new Madison Avenue restaurant, is the innovative creation of Russian sisters Lorraine and Sabina Belkin, whose eight-foot portraits grace the walls. But these striking portraits are only one of the ways that this inventive eatery proves itself worthy of its chic location. Duo will be the first restaurant in New York City to use custom-made, back-lit menus so that patrons can see their menus without being forced to sacrifice the sultry ambiance of the dark mood lighting.

The back-lit menu itself features contemporary American cuisine, with dishes imagined by the creative Belkin sisters and brought to life (so to speak) by acclaimed Executive Chef Hok Chin. Plates include a 20-ounce USDA prime rib and a “build your own” carpaccio.

And for those not satisfied by mere high-tech menus and delicious food, perhaps the striking décor will impress. Gold-leaf accents and crocodile-skin columns are scattered about the space, while the velvet walls sparkle with hand placed Swarovski crystals.

Duo opens Monday, June 6 and is currently taking reservations. Whether you are lured by the restaurant’s creativity, glittering interior, or exotic owners, Duo is sure to be a one-of-a-kind dining experience.
