Wolfgang Puck Slated to Open Mayfair Restaurant in London

Forget oysters or caviar, steak is the new meal of choice for London diners in the know.  These days chic Londoners hankering for a juicy slab of prime beef can be found at Hawksmoor in Convent Garden or The Palm on Pont Street, but come September 2011 they will be clamouring to get a table at celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck’s new Mayfair restaurant.

CUT at 45 Park Lane is the modern American steakhouse due to open at Dorchester Collection’s new boutique hotel. In addition to housing an elegant restaurant, 45 Park Lane, located near the iconic The Dorchester, will have 45 modern style rooms and suites, and a penthouse, all with views of Hyde Park. Puck already has a huge American following thanks to the success of his restaurants in the US, including celeb hangout Spago in Los Angeles, but CUT will be the Michelin star chef’s first European outpost. The menu will feature prime dry and wet aged beef, as well as succulent pan-roasted lobster and sautéed and roasted whole fresh fish.

The Austrian-born chef, who is known for incorporating French and Asian elements in his cooking, promises to offer innovative cuisine in a contemporary setting. “London has some of the very finest restaurants in the world,” Puck said. “I’ve been waiting for the right time and the right partner to bring CUT to the city’s residents and visitors. With its sharp design and incomparable service, Dorchester Collection’s 45 Park Lane will be the perfect address for CUT in London.”

Puck trained in top restaurants in France before moving to the Unites States aged 24. He now boasts restaurants in California, Las Vegas, and across the US. He is also responsible for feeding Hollywood’s elite at the post Academy Awards celebrity banquet each year.
