The New Porsche Panamera S Hybrid: Head of Its Class in Luxury Hybrid Automobiles

With Porsche’s new Panamera S Hybrid, eco-friendly drivers can drive green without having to sacrifice sportiness or elegance. This second production hybrid model is an environmentally conscious continuation of the already ultra-sleek Panamera sport sedan. According to Automotive Rhythms, this new model is not only the most fuel-efficient Porsche of all time, but has leapt past all of the full hybrid production vehicles in the luxury class.

Porsche continues to redefine standards across the board – both in classic performance cars and hybrid vehicles. This innovative new model boasts a total power output of 380 hp with the best case 41.54-mpg of fuel consumption, totaling out the CO2 emissions of just 159 g/km. With an acceleration rate from 0-60 in a mere 6 seconds, and a top speed of 168 mph, the auto boasts incredible performance. The drive system is also the only in the world that is able to utilize additional consumption reserves thanks to an ability to “sail” on motorways and main roads by disengaging and switching off the combustion engine at speeds of up to 103 mph during phases in which there is no power being delivered by the combustion engine.

Including this new hybrid model, the illustrious Panamera model line now boasts five other distinct models, making great strides in the luxury auto segment – both in regards to sportiness and eco-consciousness. Additionally, the Panamera S Hybrid’s range of standard features is even greater than that of the Panamera S with the eight-cylinder engine, including the Cayenne S Hybrid’s innovative display concept, which provides the driver with all relevant info about the vehicle’s specific hybrid driving status.

The Panamera S Hybrid will hit the market in June 2011 and is priced starting at $95,000.
