Kick Off Summer at The Wigwam With a Patriotic Memorial Day Weekend

Summer is definitely heating up over at the newly renovated Wigwam resort, with a whole lot of fun getting underway just in time for Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy low rates, summer games, interactive military demonstrations, and a patriotic fireworks display in honor of the men and women of our Armed Forces. But that’s just the start of summer …

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND SPECIAL EVENTS AT THE WIGWAM

On Friday, May 27, guests of The Wigwam can sign up for a weekend of Olympic-style fun for families, taking place Saturday and Sunday, including 60-second challenges, “name that tune,” ice block relays and other activities. There will even be an awards ceremony at the end to celebrate the winners. And of course, you won’t want to miss the fireworks show on Saturday evening in a salute to U.S. troops.

On Sunday, May 29, guests and members of the public alike are invited to join Blue Star Moms at The Wigwam Farmer’s Market from 7 to 11 a.m. to make “Star Spangled Care Packages” for members of the Armed Forces. Plus, representatives from Luke Air Force Base will also be on hand to entertain the crowd with interactive military demonstrations, including bomb squad robots, a military humvee and fighter pilot meet and greets from 9 to 11 a.m.

On Monday, May 30, Memorial Day, The Wigwam will participate in the nationwide “National Moment of Remembrance” and host a moment of silence at 3 p.m. in order to remember and respect our country’s fallen soldiers.

Available May 27 through Sept. 7, 2011, summer rates at The Wigwam start from $99 for weekday stays and $109 for weekend stays. Just for local Arizona residents, kids eat free and the daily resort fee is waived. For reservations, visit www.wigwamarizona.com and use promo code SUMSCAPE.

TONS OF SUMMER FUN AT THE WIGWAM

Memorial Day weekend may kick off summer fun in the sun at The Wigwam, but there’s much more to come.

Outdoor enthusiasts will want to take advantage of the mountain bike rentals to explore the more than 400 acres and parks surrounding the resort, or use the complimentary driving range golf balls at Arizona’s largest resort practice facility to get in a little extra tee time. In fact, family tee times offer free golf for children under the age of 17 with a paying adult, plus there’s also a short game golf clinic offered on Fridays for hotel guests.

Spa-goers have (extra) reason to plan on being pampered by The Wigwam’s on-site Red Door Spa: the spa is offering $45 Cucumber Facials and Timesaver Massages (normally $75) and poolside chair massages from $25 for 15 minutes or $45 for 30 minutes — excellent ways to unwind after a day full of activities.

Foodie couples will rejoice in the First Pick Farmer’s Dinner offered by Litchfield’s, the resort’s signature restaurant. Enjoy the special three-course meal ($28 per person) featuring the freshest farm-to-table fare before heading to outdoors for the resort’s nightly fireside fete with marshmallows and s’mores. There’s also “Cocktails and Chocolates” at The Wigwam Bar, which includes two signature cocktails and housemade truffles ($20). Then head back inside Litchfield’s for beer and wine flight tastings or live entertainment Wednesday through Saturday nights.

There’s plenty for the littlest guests to enjoy during your stay as well: the Kids Chef Camp on Saturdays or Kids Music Camp on Mondays ($15 per child); Sunset Poolside Movies on weekend nights; and animal encounters courtesy of the Wildlife World Zoo on Sundays. There’s even an indoor Fun Zone featuring Wii, Xbox, air hockey, ping pong and more.

The Wigwam is located at 300 E. Wigwam Blvd. in Litchfield Park 623.935.3811
