The weekend kept getting better at the clubs in Las Vegas with the Billboard Music Awards in town and Kylie Minogue in concert Sunday night. On Saturday night, Mary J Blige performed a set before a sold-out crowd at Surrender at Encore Las Vegas. Eight-time Olympic medalist Apolo Ohno celebrated his 29th birthday at Blush at Wynn Las Vegas. The speed skater nabbed a cake while he partied with friends at the lounge.
On Sunday night, Rihanna celebrated her wins at the Billboard Music Awards with a star studded after party at Lavo at the Palazzo. After taking home honors for Top Female Artist and several other awards she made her way to the hot spot with friends. She arrived before midnight in a gold dress and held court as industry friends and other winners congratulated her on the night.
Jay-Z and Beyonce, the night’s Billboard Millennium Award honoree, were on hand, along with former Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Vegas’ own Ne-Yo joined the party, as did Nas.
Taboo and apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas, winner of the award for Top Group, arrived and immediately jumped into the booth with DJ Vice and performed their hits for the crowd.
Glee’s Matthew Morrison was spotted in the club, as was award show presenter Joe Jonas, who stopped by the deejay booth to get on the mic and say hello to the crowd. Before hitting Lavo, Jonas dined at Tao at the Venetian with friends. Also seen dining at Tao earlier in the night was E!’s Michael Yo.
DJ Vice made sure to salute the musical star power taking over Lavo, playing their hits for the packed club as everyone celebrated the night.
Also on Sunday, pop singer Kylie Minogue celebrated an early birthdayand the wrap of her Aphrodite Live tour at CatHouse Boutique Nightclub inside Luxor. The “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” beauty was joined by more than 40 members of her touring group and drank Veuve Clicquot Champagne and danced with friends. After blowing out the candles on a white frosting birthday cake adorned with flowers, Minogue enjoyed a slice and even shared some with a male admirer. Minogue was smiles all night as she partied it up before heading home to Australia.
