Celebrating two very successful years as one of Dubai’s premier destinations for fine Japanese cuisine, Okku at the Monarch Hotel pulled out all the stops to mark the occasion.
Hosted by Paris Hilton, Okku’s second birthday was an exclusive, invite only occasion that served to thank its loyal followers for the support over the last two years. Okku has been a fixture on the Dubai scene since opening in 2009. The winning formula is a combination of fine dining and intimate lounge-style areas; in the later hours the music pumps up, turning the restaurant into a dance floor.
Paris Hilton rose to notoriety after starring in the MTV series ‘The Simple Life’ and visited Dubai in 2009 to film an Arabic version of her show ‘My New BFF’. The show is yet to air in the UAE, but is on screens internationally. Hilton also has links to a number of stores in Dubai selling her own-name fashion label, which focuses largely on bags and accessories. With a desire to party being on her agenda whilst in Dubai, Hilton sat with those who were curious to get a glimpse of the star. Laughing, chatting and grooving with the guests, Hilton proved why she is such an in-demand party host.
For food, the Okku chefs were offering their signature favorites; Miso Black Cod, Wagyu Beef with Foie Gras and Yellowtail Carpaccio all were devoured before the dancing commenced. The bar staff were not to be outdone – a steady stream of sparkler-topped magnums of Grey Goose Vodka added to the party atmosphere.
Outside, the throng of photographers cramming to get a glimpse of Hilton on the red carpet ensured Okku’s second birthday bash was the most talked about event in town.
