Haute Event: 9th Annual Wine Aficionado Dinner Raises $160,000 for Leukemia and Cancer Research

The Ninth Annual Wine Aficionado Dinner, or Cinco de Vino!, held at the Beverly Hills SLS Hotel on May 5, raised $160,000 for leukemia and cancer research for infants, children, and adolescents at the Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Labs at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.  Funding was raised through ticket sales and the exciting live auction. The funds that were raised will enable the foundation to receive more support for its research and care for patients. To date, the annual event has raised more than $2 million for the hospital’s “bench to bedside” pediatric cancer research program.

Chef José Andrés prepared a decadent four-course meal paired with highly collectible and rare wines. His interesting food choices such as his signature hors d’oeuvres, Olives Ferran Adrià and Foie Gras Cotton Candy, were not a disappointment! Instead, they were praised and enjoyed by the many guests.  In addition, the dinner was composed of his very own version of a Caprese Salad, a seared Hawaiian Opa, and he finished the meal with the entree – braised Wagyū beef cheeks.

With celebrity guests such as Sarah Chalke (Scrubs), Brock Pierce (The Might Ducks), event co-chairs Bob Bookman (Creative Artist Agency) and Howard Gordon (former SVP, Cheesecake Factory), amongst many others, the Bogart Wine Aficionado was one of Los Angeles’ best food and wine events of the year.
