Haute 100 Los Angeles Update: David Beckham to Design Bodywear

David Beckham has graced numerous pages and billboards in nothing but his skimpies. He has watched his debonair wife sashay about town fashioning her own trends and hatching her own collection, which has apparently compelled him to follow in her fancy footsteps.

Mr. Beckham, one half of the Haute 100 Los Angeles Power Couple, is taking his skimpies into his own hands and machinating his own line of men’s body-wear.  Alongside his business partner, Simon Fuller, the carefully crafted collection will consist of mainly underwear and casual separates bearing a sport-minded bent.  “I have had the idea of doing a body-wear collection for some time now,” said the soccer luminary to Vogue UK.  “The push to do something of my own really came as a result of my collaboration with Armani. They told me that their gross turnover in 2007 was around $23 million, and after the campaign in 2008 it went up to $45 million in 2008. It proved to me that there is a real market for good-looking, well-made men’s bodywear.”

While larger-than-life images of Beckham’s lean physique clad in a cotton loin cloth may not have men rushing to the stores, it will surely do the trick for the ladies.  Let’s be real, those advertisements aren’t necessarily geared at men since for the part men aren’t typically the ones buying their undies anyway.

“With my team we have spent time working on the fit, the fabric and the style to ensure the product looks and feels the very best and I am hugely proud of the end result,” claims Beckham. “I can’t wait to show people the collection — although I’m not sure my mum will be too happy seeing a billboard image of me in underwear again.”

Dear Mrs. Beckham, although a notable opinion in regards to your son’s over-exposure, remember…sex sells.
