Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance celebrates Italy’s 150th anniversary on Father’s Day

On June 19, 2011, the annual Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance on Father’s Day will celebrate Italy with this year’s theme “The Art of Italian Motoring.” In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, Rodeo Drive will pay tribute to some of the most popular names in Italian design and lifestyle. “The annual Father’s Day event will highlight a WORLD CLASS combination of automobiles, motorcycles and designers featuring Italian makes and models,” says Bruce Meyer, Chairman of the annual event. Such names that will be on display include Ferrari, Fiat, Lamborghini, Ducati, Vespa, Bertone, Zagato and many more. The Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance is an exclusive show of luxury automobiles set against the backdrop of high-end Rodeo Drive boutiques. “Without Italy, Rodeo Drive and Beverly Hills would be a very different place,” says Tom Blumenthal, President of the Rodeo Drive Committee.  “With boutiques from Giorgio Armani to Gucci and Damiani to Bvlgari as well as such legendary restaurants as La Scala and Scarpetta, residents and visitors can experience a little bit of Italy everyday.” The automobile event, which is free and open to the public, emphasizes the unique relationship between the fashion, entertainment and automotive industries. In 1993, the first-ever Concours on Rodeo was held in conjunction with the world premier of the Ferrari 348 Spider and has since then been named one of the “300 Unmissable Events & Festivals Around the World” by top travel publisher Frommer’s. The event, which attracts an estimated 30,000 spectators from car collectors to families to international visitors is one of Southern California’s top destinations each and every Father’s Day.
