Kimpton’s FireSky Resort Celebrates EarthCare Week April 18-25

As Arizona’s first and only resort to earn Green Seal certification, Kimpton Hotels’ FireSky Resort & Spa is once again leading the way when it comes to celebrating Earth Day. The property is hosting a week-long series of events, specials and other surprises in honor of EarthCare Week, April 18-25.

TO DINE

April 18-25, enjoy a very special EarthCare Week menu at Taggia, A Kimpton Restaurant. Chef James Siao has created this four-course meal featuring a mix of fresh local and organic ingredients, including such unique and tantalizing dishes as local greens with Drake Farms’ goat cheese, Windmill Farms’ tomatoes, baby beets and citrus vinaigrette; Schreiners sweet sausage, with housemade potato gnocchi and wild mushrooms; Wild Alaskan halibut with controne beans, fennel, Windmill Farms’ tomatoes and saffron; and local Crave artisanal ice cream plus a locally made citrus-infused dark chocolate torte by Wei of Chocolate for dessert. Plus, calling all vino enthusiasts: Taggia will be pouring sustainable wines from such vineyards as LangeTwins and Parducci. The meal is just $45 per person (does not include beverages), and reservations can be made by calling 480.424.6095.

TO STAY

P.S. If you want to continue your evening at the resort after dinner, FireSky is also offering a special EarthCare room rate April 18-25. Reserve luxe accommodations from $139 per night — a savings of more than $130 off the resort’s high-season rates. Book online using the code PECO.

TO PLAY

FireSky’s fun-loving general manager, Jim Hollister, and his dog Bosco, will both be sporting pedometers April 19-22, and they challenge guests (and guests’ pets) to do the same. Check out a pedometer at the front desk, then ditch the car for a day and explore Old Town Scottsdale or the nearby Scottsdale Fashion Square mall — or just log as many steps as possible right around the resort. Find out how GM Jim, Bosco, and the other guests did in the Eco Step Challenge at the evening’s wine hour, where you could win playful prizes. FireSky is a pet-friendly resort, so your furry friends are welcome to join in the game, although the challenge is for guests only.

TO RECYCLE

On Wednesday, April 20, FireSky will be hosting an Electronics Recycle Round-Up from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., so even if you’re not planning on making a reservation this week at the resort, guests and locals alike are invited to drop off any of their unwanted electronic devices in the resort’s front parking lot. The used good will be recycled, and you’ll get rid of some extra junk. Everyone wins!

TO FETE

Don’t miss the Live Green & Prosper Trade Show from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 21. In partnership with Earth911.com, FireSky will be featuring an evening of live music, signature green cocktails served in Refresh Glassware, a cooking demo by Taggia’s Executive Chef James Siao, recycled art by Kenneth Gram, models wearing eco couture designed by Alexander Luque, and cool displays from green vendors Global Integrators, Refresh Glass, Singh Farms, Clean Air Cab, Mighty Leaf Tea, Eco Lab, Agapayo Coffee, Cintas, The Green Salon, Jurlique Spa, Spa Ritual, Earth911.com, and others. Plus, there will be a raffle to benefit The Nature Conservancy, which means for a donation of $5 per ticket, you’ll help Mother Earth and score a chance to win prizes like a luxury hotel stay, spa packages, goodies from the participating vendors and more.

TO UNWIND

Are you afraid of the dark? Don’t be! End your work week with Taggia Bar’s sustainable, lights-out “Drinks-in-the-Dark Earth Day Happy Hour” from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 22. Choose from the resort’s signature green cocktail, plus $5 drinks and a list of half-off appetizers.

FireSky Resort & Spa is located at 4925 N. Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale 480.945.7666
