Haute Event: Cynthia Nixon Hosts an Evening of Practical Magic
New York mecca, Cipriani 42nd Street, hosted 700 guests for a noble charity event aptly named An Evening of Practical Magic that raised a healthy $1.5 million to help feed hungry New Yorkers. Culinary enthusiasts Chef Eric Ripert, Marc Murphy, Michael White, Gail Simmons, Miss USA Rima Fakih, and “Top Chef” judge Tom Colicchio were among attendees of the the 17th annual City Harvest event, where posh packages where auctioned off. The event was hosted by Sex and the City star, Cynthia Nixon, who is an active supporter of the cause.
City Harvest, the world’s first food rescue organization, began their philanthropic 25 years ago. Just this year they sanctioned 28 million pounds of excess food collected from a wide array of food industry vendors, used to help community relief organizations fill the mouth and hearts of hungry men, women, and children throughout the city.
