Haute Event: 2011 Rally for the Cure at the Country Club at DC Ranch

Members of the Country Club at DC Ranch successfully raised $45,000 for Susan G. Komen at a Rally for the Cure event.

On Sunday, March 13, 100 participants — many of them wearing pink in honor of the cause — gathered at the country club for a day that included golf, dinner and a silent auction to raise funds for Susan G. Komen. This was the 10th year the country club has hosted a Rally for the Cure event.

Co-chaired by Maxine Urheim and Janice Werz, the event spread awareness about breast health and breast cancer in support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. In the U.S., a woman has a one-in-eight chance of developing breast cancer in her lifetime; however, if the disease is detected early (before it spreads beyond the breast), the five-year survival rate is 98 percent.

The mission of Rally for the Cure programs and events is to encourage individuals to join the fight against breast cancer by educating their friends, family and community on the importance of early detection.

The $45,000 that was raised by the members of the Country Club at DC Ranch will benefit women in the city of Phoenix who cannot afford mammograms or breast cancer treatment.
