Haute Style: Jonathan Adler Boutique on Newbury Street

Jonathan Adler’s self-proclaimed “Happy Chic” philosophy is the perfect remedy for chic Bostonians who are ready to emerge from the chilly winter and put some spring into their lives. This weekend I stopped by the whimsical store, which has been brightening up Newbury Street ever since it arrived on the scene a year and a half ago. Store manager Peter Griglik happily showed me around to view their latest arrivals.

What’s hot in Jonathan Adler right now? New needlepoint destination pillows, including my favorites, St. Tropez, Europe, and Osaka. I also loved the new teal and blue Union Jack needlepoint pillow for $98, and I’m hoping I don’t have to be British to display this in my own home! If so I also love the bargello flame and chevron needlepoint pillows, which retail for $145-$175 on Adler’s website.

Other popular items right now are Lucite trays, zigzag alpaca throws, and enamel frames. Fashion meets and marries function with the $275 baby alpaca throws, which are the perfect way to add a pop of subtle color to any room, while still providing warmth until spring officially arrives. And I would be remiss not to mention one of the shop’s staples – the Jonathan Adler destination candles. The amazing scents will fill your home and provide decorative touches while doing so. Just looking at the candle display made me happy! My favorite scents right now (from East to West) are Southampton and Big Sur. These are a wonderful gift idea for any occasion and at $38 each, completely irresistible.

Peter also mentioned that in April new fabrics for their custom upholstery are arriving, as well as some new furniture pieces to choose from. So stop by Jonathan Adler on Newbury Street. You will leave with a spring in your step and something new in your hand, I promise!
