As we eagerly await the sunshine filled spring season, we start to notice that our closet is full of winter clothes. If you are trying to stock up on timeless bags perfect for the spring season, check out Johanna Boccardo. Born in Venezuela with a strong and vivid imagination, her love for color and design was going to take her places. She started as an illustrator, graduating at the Instituto de Diseño. She relocated to Sarasota, Florida in 2002, where she received her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts at Ringling School of Art & Design. She relocated again to Spain where she illustrated books for both national and international publishers. Earning the title as an internationally published illustrator, she grew a yearning to expand her love for design and illustration.

Moving to Miami Beach in 2005, she became fascinated with designing leather handbags, using different lines, colors, and textures. She launched Beautiful People in May 2008. While following the idea that one should make a business out of one’s passion, her line of sophisticated satchels, hobos, totes, and clutch purses, gained success almost over night. She was nominated by Saks Fifth Avenue for 2009’s Independent Handbag Designer Award and has been featured in top-tier accessory and gift guides. They have also been featured in several runway shows including Heatherette and Richie Rich. Her line of bags has been picked up by dozens of retail stores, including Anthropologie. So if you are looking to snag one of these stylish bags, her new Spring 2011 collection is here! Using vibrant colors like chartreuse, camel, cobalt blue, and deep sepia mixed with color-blocking, it is great for any ensemble. Not only are they stylish, but they provide functional use by including interior and exterior pockets for PDA’s to cosmetic compartments. They are sold at many boutiques including Mitosa New York, Heidi in Style Philadelphia, and in Emporium in Coral Gables.
