Recording artists Chris Brown and Common, actors Frankie Muniz (“Malcolm in the Middle”) and Kiowa Gordon (“Twilight”) and others gathered on Saturday, Jan. 29, for the 10th Annual Jack in the Box Celebrity Shootout presented by Robert and Carole Machiz.

The annual fundraiser went down at the U.S. Airways Center in support of the organization Suns Nite Hoops, a nonprofit dedicated to helping young men in the Valley between the ages of 18 and 25. The young men come together twice a week to attend workshops on everything from parenting and life skills to responsibility and positivity, and then they get to take to the court to enjoy some basketball.

The Celebrity Shootout became a major event in Phoenix practically right from its start and has drawn celebrities and professional athletes past and present to the city. While last year’s attendance was 7,500, this year was expected to reel in upward of 10,000 spectators.

In past years, the event has raised approximately $140,000 — enough to cover expenses for Suns Nite Hoops for about half a year. Past celebrity guests, participants and VIPs have included Jamie Foxx, Usher, Ice Cube, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and others. This was Common’s second year to participate, and Frankie Muniz’ fourth.
