Jean Georges Vongerichten Plans to Open Spice Market London in Time for Valentine’s Day

One of New York’s culinary visionaries is about to bring his chef skills to London. Jean Georges Vongerichten and Culinary Concepts by Jean Georges Vongerichten plan to open Spice Market London Feb. 14 at The W London.

The restaurant is set to be the sister of the original Spice Market currently in New York City’s Meatpacking District. Vongerichten is highly renowned with three Michelin-starred ratings and critics call him the answer to nouvelle cuisine. Vongerichten has created a delectable menu filled with exotic flavors and spices. Signature dishes will include: spiced chicken samosa with coriander yogurt, cod with Malaysian chili sauce and Thai basil and Ovaltine kulfi, caramelized banana and spiced milk chocolate. These dishes will be accompanied by a tantalizing drink menu featuring ginger margarita, lychee raspberry Bellini and a pineapple mojito.

Inspired by South Asia in both food and decor, the restaurant will feature a stunning birdcage, a gold spiral staircase and 600 custom-designed shimmering wok lamps, which will cover almost every part of the ceiling giving out an attractive low light.

Kevin Rocket, general manger of The W, is very excited for the restaurant’s location in his hotel. “Spice Market is a perfect fit for our loyal jet setting guests, who are always looking out for what’s new and what’s next” he said.
