Virgin American Lands in Dallas

A mere four days after his umpteenth arrest for marijuana possession here in Texas, Willie Nelson appeared as the surprise musical guest at the Virgin Airline’s Lone Star Launch December 1st, held in the Winspear Opera House here in Dallas’ Arts District. Marking their inaugural voyage into the DFW airport, Virgin Airlines showcased their newest venture by holding a Southern-style barbecue on the red carpeted tarmac for their first guests.

Dallas is the 12th airport to welcome high-class, affordable flights with Virgin American airlines. Our fair city marks the first mid-country destination for the airline, and they will be offering daily nonstop flights from DFW to LAX as well as San Francisco.

Guests on the premiere flight enjoyed all of Virgin Airline’s spectacular amenities, as they sipped cocktails in the mood-lit cabin, played with touch-screen entertainment options featuring live TV and welcomed the stewardesses’ top-notch service.

“Before today, flyers along the routes had very little choice,” explained Virgin American President and CEO David Cush. “A little healthy competition is always a good thing–and we hope our flights can bring some style and fun back to flying.”

For this launch, Virgin America teamed up with the folks at Stand Up 2 Cancer to entice social media buffs to tap into their resources (and their friends’) for a good cause. Those with the largest amount of donors got an invite to the exclusive party and their donation was matched dollar for dollar by the airline.
