Hot Tees: James Perse Pop-Up at South Coast Plaza
The undisputed king of California casual is James Perse, he of designer tee-shirts, understated luxury and the softest cotton around. Whether you’re looking for something cozy, something cool or just some of the best tanks, tees and staples around, you’ve got to visit the James Perse Holiday Pop-Up shop at South Coast Plaza.
The James Perse Pop-Up is located on the lower level of the Bloomingdale’s wing, and at first glance you might not think of it as anything spectacular — especially surrounded by the glitz and glam of South Coast Plaza’s other stores. But step inside and you’ll see a carefully selected assortment of James Perse’s best pieces for men and women. Each piece is understated, lacking irony, logos or embellishment, and to the touch, you won’t get a softer feeling cotton tee.
Like his permanent stores in Malibu, Beverly Hills and San Diego, the pop-up is relaxed and refined. The tees, knits, pants and accessories are muted in their palette but saturated with color and dyes so that even the lightest ecrus and greys look rich and deep. Knit sweaters and hoodies are perfect for travel and lounging and the scarves are so easy to wear you’ll throw one on just about every day.
Get there quick though, because after the holiday rush, the James Perse Pop-up will close its doors. Shoppers can enjoy the relaxed and refreshing vibe of the store and the clothes through Dec. 31.
The James Perse Holiday Pop-Up Store is located at 3333 Bristol St., at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. For more information, call 714.435.2000 or visit www.jamesperse.com.
