What Made Him Haute: As one of the most prominent designers in the fashion world, Tom Ford has made quite a name for himself. Ford was formerly the creative director for the Gucci label turning the almost bankrupt Gucci house into an empire valued at $4.3 billion. Now he heads his own empire the Tom Ford label which covers everything from elegant menswear, amazing fragrances, and gorgeous designs for women. In 2008, Tom Ford was named Menswear Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
What Makes Him Haute Now: The very innovative and creative Tom Ford was asked by Vogue Paris to guest edit their December 2010 issue. The artsy editorial spread features dolled up 7 year old girls dressed in high couture fashion. The girls were dressed in astonishing gowns adorned with remarkable diamonds and displayed awe-inspiring makeup all shot tastefully in a fashion-forward setting. Ford has received a lot of mixed press for his choice of age for the young models; however for the most part, the imaginative spread is seen as a fresh-new approach to high fashion.
