Then, next up on Friday, catch Sublime, the influential ’90s ska-punk outfit that launched 1,000 like-minded bands. Finally, on Saturday night, get in touch with your inner short-form cinema aficionado right in the heart of Chinatown. So much culture, so little time.

Thursday, Nov. 18: Gin is In

Haute dining and nightlife venue Apartment 3 and Better Brands present Munch. The monthly food and cocktail pairing event celebrates its final spirited installment of the year with noted, local mixologist Joey Gottesman hosting a “gin edition.” Guests will begin their culinary tour with Roasted Golden Beets with watercress, goat cheese and spiced pistachios paired with the Golden Orange Fizz, a blend of Bombay Sapphire, fresh orange rind, organic egg, powdered sugar, fresh squeezed lemon juice and nutmeg. For the main affair, gourmands and gin enthusiasts will enjoy proscuitto-wrapped salmon filet with kabocha pumpkin puree and sautéed rainbow chard with basil emulsion. The main affair will be complemented by the fresh basil and cayenne pepper elixir, a concoction mixed with Hendricks Gin, fresh island grown basil, fresh lime and kicked with cayenne pepper. To finish the pairing perfection, revelers will indulge in the Grapefruit Mousse with fresh strawberries and mint paired with the Bathtub Gin and Mixed Berry Cocktail combining Grey Goose, juniper berries, red wine mixed fresh berries and Brandy. Friday, Nov. 19: Sublime with Rome

BAMP Project has done it again with a sure to be stellar concert at the Kaka’ako Beach Park Amphitheater. The local concert promoters have partnered with Guerilla Union, a California-based urban production company to bring Sublime with Rome, the legendary ska-punk band to the Hawaiian Islands. After the tragic death of former Sublime front man, Brad Nowell, Sublime re-launches with a new name, paying tribute to their past and launching the future. The new lead singer and guitarist Rome Ramirez joins original Sublime members, drummer Bud Gaugh and bass player Eric Wilson.

Saturday, Nov. 20: Showdown in Chinatown Five-Year Anniversary & Championships

The infamous bi-monthly underground short film challenge celebrates its fifth anniversary this Saturday with the 2010 Championships. This month’s challenge for aspiring filmmakers is to make a seven-minute flick creatively honoring one of their idols. It’s not a documentary challenge but a chance to create a fictional story as an homage to an inspirational character. The viewing showcase begins at 8 p.m. at Next Door and Bar 35. Entry is $10.
