The season of giving is in full swing, with everyone wanting to be nicer to and do things for, strangers, if only just to see the cheerful smiles that an act of kindness can produce. One of Atlanta’s most celebrated landmarks, Underground Atlanta, is in the full holiday spirit this year because they are kicking off a wonderful holiday series called Home for the Holidays which is a cluster of events guaranteed to warm your heart and fill you with holiday cheer, southern style!
Kicking off the festivities is the Toys for Tots drive that is currently receiving toy donations for needy children from now until December 20. Underground Atlanta will accept unwrapped toys to be donated to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program. There are several convenient drop-off areas located at the parking garages of Underground Atlanta and near the management office. So head on over to your local toy store and make a child’s Christmas dreams a reality!
This Friday December 3, is a special performance of Tuba Christmas which features over 200 of the best local tuba players as they play renditions of holiday favorites while dressed in their best (and most festive) holiday attire. Tuba Christmas is known to be a sure crowd-pleaser as it allows everyone to sing along to the holiday hits that they grew up listening to. For more information visit www.tubachristmas.com
During the entire month of December there will be a host of holiday performances sure to keep the holiday momentum going at full speed. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Underground Atlanta will be transformed in to a breathtaking “winter wonderland” courtesy of a little special magic. Local school and church choirs, musicians, vocalists and bands will demonstrate all the talent that resides in the city of Atlanta as they perform holiday classics sure to get everyone in the spirit of the season.
On Thursday December 9 and running until December 19, is a family-friendly theater attraction called Urban Holiday Soup which features a varied collection of music, dance and comedy performances. This show has something that everyone will love, so bring the whole family down to experience what is sure to become an Underground Atlanta classic. Tickets for this event are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors.
This is the big event sure to send Atlanta’s children into a frenzy! On December 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. is Santa’s Holiday Celebration with live appearances by Santa himself as well as his travelling companions, his eight reindeer. Guests will also enjoy arts and crafts and lots of live entertainment. If there is one event that you must attend, this is definitely it!
