When it was announced that Miami Beach’s The Forge Restaurant | Wine Bar would be setting up shop in James Beard’s kitchen for their “Fall in the North and South” dinner, major buzz ensued. What followed was an evening attended by a glowing group of celebrities and VIP’s who anticipated that anything orchestrated by Forge proprietor, Shareef Malnik and Exectuvie Chef Dewey Lo Sasso would be a gathering not to be missed.
It’s no surprise, to that end, that attendees included such high profile, self-proclaimed foodies as Malnik’s girlfriend and “Burn Notice” star Gabrielle Anwar; fashion designer Nicole Miller and husband Kim Taipale; Chairman of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Charles Koppelman accompanied by fiance Gerri Kyhill; film director Brett Ratner; Starwood Hotels global PR director, Gigi Ganatra; CEO of Haute Living magazine, Kamal Hotchandani; actor Gianni Russo, and Russell Simmons, who was treated to a specially prepared vegan menu in order to cater to his dietary restrictions.
The glamour quotient associated with the evening is in step with Malnik’s usual approach to everything Forge-related. The restaurant’s recent $10 million renovation speaks to a no holds barred approach to dining that marries atmosphere with a celebration of culinary excellence for an overall experience that’s never short of stellar.
After the intimate dinner, Malnik, Anwar and Hotchandani joined dear friends and Forge fans, Market America’s JR and Loren Ridinger and, Eva Longoria Parker to celebrate the successful night and to toast to the many similar times to be enjoyed at the locale’s iconic Miami Beach outpost.
