Category: Designers

Company: Marc Jacobs Inc.

Industry: Fashion

What Made Him Haute: He has built an eponymous fashion empire while simultaneously acting as creative director of Louis Vuitton. In 2009, Jacobs was ranked 15th on Out magazine’s annual list of “50 Most Powerful Gay Men and Women in America.” He is currently set to marry Brazilian advertising executive Lorenzo Martone.

What Makes Him Haute Now: Worth an estimated $5 billion, the Marc Jacobs fashion label is taking its empire one step further by opening an e-commerce store launched by Createthe Group on its CTS Platform. Other leading brands such as Donna Karan New York, DKNY, David Yurman and Juicy Couture are also on board. The new endeavor offers a unified shopping adventure but still allows the customer to have a unique experience with each designer.

Jacobs also recently launched in-store entertainment at his downtown Beirut boutique, which will become a weekly event every Thursday. An MMJ bar will offer Champagne and drinks and Beirut DJ Caline Chidiac will spin music for guests. Voted by Time Magazine in 2010 as one of the 100 most influential people in the world, Marc Jacobs is undoubtedly one of the most revered designers in the world.
