Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou, Romeo? At the Arizona Theatre Company, that’s where. The company presents the renowned Guthrie Theater and The Acting Company to perform a limited engagement of William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” at the Herberger Theater in Phoenix from Nov. 4-7. Start planning your date night now to witness the Bard’s legendary tragedy that poetically depicts young love at its most passionate.
Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet will be taking the stage next month for four days only in the forms of acclaimed actors Alejandro Rodriguez and Kaliswa Brewster to tell the tale of Shakespeare’s fated lovers. You know the story well: Two young people, each from different families, fall in love but are ultimately undone by the circumstances created by their feuding clans. But aside from having to read the play in high school English class, have you ever seen this great classic actually performed? (No, Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes on the silver screen don’t count.)
This is your opportunity to experience the famed playwright’s masterpiece, a world-famous drama that has survived the ages and continues to be the ruler against which all great love stories are measured.
Adult tickets start at $30. Visit the Arizona Theatre Company online for more information and to purchase tickets.
