Kristen Stewart Filming “On the Road” in Phoenix

Earlier this week, Desert Living Today‘s The Rumorist reported that a certain Kristen Stewart of Twilight fame had been spotted at MercBar in downtown Phoenix on Monday night. So is it true? Is “K-Stew” in town? You betcha. And there’s more …

Stewart is in town to film scenes for the upcoming “On the Road,” the movie adaptation of the largely autobiographical book by famed American author Jack Kerouac. In the film, which also stars Sam Riley, Kirsten Dunst, Amy Adams, Viggo Mortensen, Steve Buscemi, Elizabeth Moss and Terrence Howard, Stewart portrays the character of Marylou.

Filming for “On the Road” began in early August and was scheduled to take place in New Orleans, Canada, Mexico and Argentina, but Phoenix is apparently subbing for Mexico due to the the dangers of filming in drug war territory south o’ the border.

So what’s Stewart been up to while in Phoenix? After hanging with pals at the MercBar until closing time Monday night, she was also seen at the Diamondbacks game on Tuesday with actor Garrett Hedlund. Hedlund is not only also starring in “On the Road” (as Dean Moriarty), he’s also a Phoenix native and a graduate of Horizon High. And also, his mother is the PR director for the Diamondbacks. So that explains that.
