Stunning rubies, emeralds, sapphires and diamonds will soon be available at the sale of the largest private collection of jewelry parures at Christie’s Dubai on the 27th of October. The sale will offer 41 examples of parures all of which have been autographed by Chatila, Jahan, and Mouawad.

Pre-selected lots will contain a pair of earrings and a ring with a matching necklace and bracelet. Each item comes with a certificate of verification from the creator. Participants will not be allowed to reserve the lots. Pre-sale estimates range from $40,000 (£25,517) to $450,000 (£287,002).

For those unfamiliar with the term, parure,  meaning “personal adornment in French”, refers to a set of three or more matching pieces of jewelry commonly consisting of a necklace, ring, bracelet and a set of earrings. The word was first used in the 18th century and modeled after Napoleon Bonaparte’s (1760-1830) famous habit of adorning the women of his court with expensive parures especially for his first wife Empress Josephine and then for his second wife Empress Marie-Louise. The tradition of matching pieces of jewelry extends back even farther in history to ancient Egypt and Rome.

The Christie’s parures are jewelry pieces that will be passed down for generations. “This is a significant opportunity for anyone who is passionate about jewellery. From ancient Egypt through to 1950s Hollywood glamour and beyond, the parure provides the ultimate jewellery gift. Whether you wear a single ring or you wear the whole suite, a parure provides flexibility, variety and extravagance to last a lifetime,” said David Warren, Head of Christie’s Jewelry in the Middle East.

The sale will be comprised of four main diamond parures, three emerald parures, ten sapphire parures, and twelve different ruby parures.

A marvelous occasion to see some stunning jewelry creations, even if you just attempt to pass through, such a night will be worth your interest and will certainly amaze your eyes.
