The Star Diamond Standard

Across the Atlantic, I visited the lovely Hotel Almenara, a beautiful property in the heart of Cadiz, Spain. Its wonderful rooms and relaxing atmosphere create a warm and comfortable environment. Adding to the property’s allure is a very impressive 27-hole golf course designed by Dave Thomas, but the crowning jewel is the Sotogrande Health Resort, an actively therapeutic travel experience that is intended to improve the health and wellness of Almenara’s guests.

The Grand Hotel Du Cap-Ferrat is a European gem situated in Côte d’Azur, France. A few of the exceptional treasures of this grand dame: impeccable service, a luxurious spa, stylish conference rooms, and mouth-watering gastronomy by Michelin-star Chef Didier Anies.

A bit farther away from home, some of Asia’s exotic locations exude a Zen-like tranquility that results in luxury mixed with a bit of solitude. In Malaysia, the Pangkor Laut Resort is home to awe-inspiring fountains that soothe the soul. The Cameron Highlands Resort offers breathtaking views of rolling valleys of the Malaysian country side, while Tanjong Jara Resort’s location near the picturesque Marang River allows guests to explore amazing waterfalls.

The art of hospitality is learned over a long period of time, and I am thankful that I have traveled the world to learn these skills and share them. In Peru, one of the emerging global capitols of gastronomy, D’Gallia Cooking School was recently presented with a Star Diamond Award for its training of future international culinary masters in the art of hospitality.

Even though I love to travel the globe in search of amazing places that provide heavenly comfort and great food, you just can’t beat the USA. I recently came across a lovely restaurant by the name of Thai Spice in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. It’s literally the best of both worlds, combining Eastern cooking with American hospitality—A definite must-see in your travels.

David Burke, one of the world’s premier chefs, infuses his hunger for travel into his menus. In New York, I recommend trying David Burke Townhouse restaurant. The dishes he creates epitomize the term “culinary arts”—a presentation of perfection as much visually as delectably.

I hope you enjoy these travel destinations as much as I did.
