Supporting Stars

Celebrities Robert Parks- Valletta, Hanna Cornett, Jake Pavelka, & Tia Carrere

It was star-studded last weekend here in Honolulu. A bevy of celebs were in town to support the annual Tag The World charity biathlon held last Sunday, Aug. 22. Tag The World is a non-profit organization that’s mission is to raise awareness and funds for five global concerns at large: Cancer, Africa, Global Green, Children, and Animals. Co-founders Hanna Cornett and Robert Parks-Valletta have found a fashionable and personal way to raise awareness through their Tag The World efforts.

Aside from hosting the Hawaii-based biathlon each year. The duo has teamed up with celebrity jewelry designer, Michael Barin creating five sterling silver necklaces that represent the global causes. Each tag provides the unique individual the ability to show support for their specific cause, which they can make custom by engraving initials of loved ones, a personal word, or date they hold dear.

Anyone can donate to the charity or participate in the Tag The World race. Supporters who donate $85 or more may choose the silver tag of their choice. One may sign-up for the biathlon as an individual or as part of a team. There’s also a full-course option for bike enthusiasts and long course available for exercise junkies.

Star participants typically work as a VIP team. Past supporters include Amber Parks- Valletta, Shia Lebeouf, Nick Lachey, and Matthew McConaughey. This year drew Tia Carrere and recent ABC Bachelor alum, Jake Pavelka.

This year’s star power even “warmed-up” by attending two of last weeks Haute Weekend Happening picks. Saturday’s first stop was the Tag The World celebrity luau sponsored by Return to Waikiki followed by a stop at the Symposia wine event at the Kahala Hotel and Resort, both of which were also on my weekend agenda.
