Scottsdale Fashion Week Has Surprises in Store

Get ready for the fifth season of Scottsdale Fashion Week, returning Nov. 4 for another three days of fun and fashion. This year includes a few surprising additions, such as a community night open exclusively to Arizona fashion professionals and exciting educational forums. We have the skinny on what you can expect.

Community Night (sponsored by FIDM) – Thursday, Nov. 4, will be Community Night, the official kick-off event for Scottsdale Fashion Week 2010. Intended to focus on the local style community, the night will showcase the talents of local apparel and accessories designers, interior designers, fashion students, models and hair and makeup stylists. The night will be open only to Arizona fashion professionals.

The lineup will begin at 6 p.m. and includes:

  • 6:00-6:20 — Hair Show
  • 6:35-6:55 — Accessory Show
  • 7:10-7:30 — H.S. Show
  • 7:45-8:05 — College Show
  • 8:20-8:40 — Local Fashion Designers Show
  • 8:55-9:15 — Interior Designer Show

Event will be from 6 to 9:30 p.m. north of Barneys New York; tickets are $15.

Educational Forums – On Saturday, Nov. 6, fashion week-goers will have the opportunity to test and expand their style know-how with a number of presentations by some of the most knowledgeable experts in the field: Nancy Reigelman of 9 Heads will discuss and illustrate predictive trends and ideas for the coming season; Joanna Manganaro of Stylesight will talk about “fashion forecasting;” Tamera Lyndsay of The Shoe College will give a shoe design overview; and Connie Amaden Crawford, author of seven fashion industry textbooks specializing in sewing, pattern-making and draping, will dispense her tips and knowledge relating to the trade. Events will be from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. north of Barneys New York; tickets are $15.
