What Made Him Haute: This ambitious fashion designer and brilliant businessman, most notable for his Polo Ralph Lauren clothing line, stated in high school that he wanted to be a millionaire. Now included on the Forbes 400 list, he has succeeded his goal in spades.

What Makes Him Haute Now: The legendary designer’s company, Polo Ralph Lauren, is in its sixth year as the Official Apparel Sponsor of the US Open Tennis Championships. To celebrate that honor, Polo Ralph Lauren will host a Legends Clinic with star tennis player, Venus William. The event, which is a live interactive virtual tennis clinic, will be held at New York’s SPORTIME Tennis Center on Aug. 26. Williams, who is seven-time Grand Slam Champ, will be available for caller questions and comments and the event will be streamed at RalphLauren.com. Along with the clinic, the Ralph Lauren US Open collection is available for purchase at the US Open Polo Ralph Lauren shop during the tournament. The store features items such as bags, tennis dresses, and Polo shirts for men and women, among others.

Ralph Lauren’s website is now featuring The RL Gang, which is an interactive story with illustration and story for children; the narration is performed by singer and actor, Harry Connick Jr. The clothing seen on characters such as Willow and Hudson are available for purchase.

Lauren’s fall/winter 2010 collection was recently cited as being inspired by romantic and bohemian motifs. The collection portrays a bohemian, fun spirit with its floral patterns and velvet jackets.
