What Made Him Haute: Miami’s favorite chef has been cooking up home cooked, soul-warming delicacies since he was 16 years old. Getting his big break at one of Miami’s legendary restaurants, Nemo’s, the chef went on to bring a lot of excitement to Miami’s dining scene. Schwartz’s Design District restaurant is open for lunch, dinner and one of the best Sunday brunches you can hope to find. The two time James Beard nominee is one of Miami’s Haute-est.

What Makes Him Haute Now: Schwartz is having quite the year and is keeping himself entertained on many fronts. Back in May, Schwartz managed to take home the gold in the James Beard Awards Best Chef of the South. It was Schwartz’s second time being nominated and it is the restaurant industries highest honor. Don’t think he has had time to rest on his laurels; Schwartz just opened his Michaels Genuine Food & Drink Grand Cayman in June. The restaurant is the first to open in the area and has Bay views with dock access, a must-visit for any Michael’s fan. Schwartz also has his first cookbook getting ready to come out in February called Michael’s Genuine Food: Down-to-Earth Cooking for People Who Love to Eat.
