The Star Diamond Standard

The Star Diamond Award represents the ultimate in prestige and international accolade. I find that there is nothing more rewarding than traveling to these superior properties to bestow this coveted honor upon the deserving staff. This past year, I had the opportunity to visit some of the most wonderful international establishments and participate in events that showcase the true spirit of the award.

On March 20, 2010 I was honored to be a part of the 16th Annual Muhammad Ali Celebrity Fight Night, which was held at the J.W. Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, in Phoenix, Arizona. This knockout fundraising event acknowledges leaders in the sports, entertainment, and business communities who best represent the qualities associated with the champ and his fight to find a cure for Parkinson’s disease.  At the star-studded gala affair, which was attended by the likes of Danica Patrick, Reba McEntire, and Randy Jackson, I had the distinct honor of presenting the former heavyweight champ with an exquisite, one-of-a-kind, crystal boxing glove on behalf of the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences. The evening raised $5 million for the cause, bringing the total amount raised over the Fight Night’s 15-year history to more than $60 million.

Also in Arizona, the Academy awarded The Arizona Biltmore our Five Star Diamond Award. With Frank Lloyd Wright as a consulting architect and contruction by Brothers Albert, Charles, and Warren McArthur, the Arizona Biltmore is a grand resort boasting some of the most splendid amenities, with a long history of catering to many notable world travelers. In fact, this spectacular property has hosted many U.S. presidents and international celebrities since its opening, which is why we presented the Star Diamond honor. Should your travels take you to Arizona, I recommend you visit this property. For a complete list of Star Diamond recipients, visit our website at www.StarDiamondAward.com.
