Dori’s World

New York society staple Dori Cooperman takes readers into some of the most exclusive events around the world.

Off to London for the Dellal-Crewe Wedding Ceremony

On a Sunday afternoon in late May, I was off to the London countryside for the Dellal-Crewe wedding, which was held at Guy and Andrea Dellal’s home. Max Crewe and Charlotte Dellal, now Mrs. Charlotte Crewe, beamed as they said their vows under the huppa made of trees and flowers. Her gown was by designer Giambattista Valli.

All of the former American Express head honchos, including Ed Cooperman, Phil Reese, and John Crewe, were in attendance, along with the groom’s mother, Carmen Crewe; my mother, Judy Cooperman; the bride’s mother, Andrea Dellal; the bride’s brother, Alex Dellal, who is dating Princess Charlotte; the bride’s sister, Alice Dellal; London “It” girl, Margherita Missoni; Tatiana Santo Domingo; Derek Blasberg, the author of Classy: Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady; superstar DJ Mark Ronson (who was there as a guest, not doing his DJ thing); Vito Schnabel; Jean Pigozzi; Clarke Crewe; Brett Murray; Vogue Associate Accessories Editor Serena Nikkhah; Francesca Versace; Lisa Reuben; Simon Reuben; and Jamie Diner.

Cocktail hour was held outside, while dinner and dancing was inside a glass tent imported from Italy. Seated at my table was Vogue stylist Caroline Sieber and her charming boyfriend Fritz von Westenholz. On the property, photo shoots were taking place in one of the cottages, which was staged with the backdrop of a half moon in a nighttime setting. The party went into the wee hours of the following next morning.

What a wedding!

The Raisa Gorbachev Foundation Party

Goga Ashkenazi, dressed in black Valentino, hosted a table of 10 at the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation Party at Stud House, Hampton Court Palace, on June 5, 2010 in Richmond upon Thames, London, England. The night benefited the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation, an international fund fighting childhood cancer.

On hand were some of the royalty of film, including Hugh Grant, Vanessa Redgrave, Anjelica Huston, Joely Richardson, and Claire Forlani. Fashion designers Matthew Williamson and Patrick Cox joined the festivities, along with founder of
Gift-Library.com Caroline Stanbury and her husband Cem Habib; Cheyne Capital hedge fund manager Jonathan Lourie; model Astrid Muñoz; Israeli socialite Hofit Golan; head of Sky Pictures William Turner and his wife Emily Oppenheimer; Green Shield Stamps heir Tim Jefferies; and Robert Hanson and his new bride Masha Markova.

The event took place at the Stud House, the private home of the Lebedev family, located 45 minutes from central London. The reception was held on the lawns of the house, followed by dinner and an auction hosted by Marie Curie Cancer Care CEO Thomas Hughes-Hallett. A truly spectacular array of unique lots went up for bid. Last year, 1.1 million pounds were raised on the auction alone. This year, the event raised 1.7 million pounds, thanks in part to Mariani Blekana, who bid on a 50,000 pound item.

After the auction, Simon Le Bon from Duran Duran performed and we danced the night away. The next day, I relaxed at Jonathan Lourie’s home after such an exciting evening.

The Raisa Gorbachev Foundation was established by Evgeny Lebedev and Mikhail Gorbachev in 2006 as a not-for-profit organization to commemorate the life of Mikhail’s wife, who died from Leukemia in 1999.

Upcoming Event: Summer in St. Tropez

The past few months have been packed full of exciting events around the globe, many of which I wrote about for www.HauteLiving.com. Now that summer is almost upon us, my schedule shows no signs of slowing down. I will be heading to Saint-Tropez for a number of events that I am excited to attend. It all kicks off on July 16, with Goga Ashkenazi’s party. A few days later, on July 22, Simon Ruben will host a gathering at his villa. Then Keith Rubenstein, Chris Getty, and I will celebrate our joint-birthdays with a lunch aboard Michael Tabor’s yacht, Hurricane Run. On July 24, Tony Murray will host his annual party at his mansion, La Villa Las Brisas. To wrap it all up, Denise Rich will throw her annual event aboard her yacht M.Y. Lady Joy.
