Gamson’s Star Is Rising

Artist, Stephen Gamson’s (www.gamsonart.com) star is shining bright these days.  Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he is Harvard educated as an art history major and world traveled, all of which have helped Gamson evolve into the artist he is today.  He began drawing as a child and visiting art museums and in his teens started collecting art from then unknown street artists such as Keith Haring. Gamson became a serious art collector and his downtown Miami condo looks more like a contemporary art museum thanks to his eclectic collection.

Fast forward to Spring 2010, where he just held a vernissage hosted by The Welcome Channel at his new Jade Ocean (www.jadeoceanmiami.com) jetson-like PH art studio space. It has over 5,000 square feet and balconies everywhere you turn, guests can see the ocean on one side and North Miami on the other. The building is opposite of the new Epicure Market (www.epicuremarket.com), soon be filled with Gamson’s art since he has become their local “ambassador.” Check the Haute Living events page for more scenes for this evening.

Moving south to downtown Miami, across from Biscayne Bay, Gamson has yet another amazing PH art studio located in the 900 Biscayne building on the 65th floor. Be prepared for your ears to pop as the elevator zooms up to the top and enter the world of Gamson. Bright, happy colors cover the walls with Gamson’s artwork and sculptures sit satisfactorily throughout the rooms. When your eyes are not enjoying the brilliant explosion of colorful art, they are captivated by the spectacular views. It feels more like an airplane cockpit looking out into the world, than a super studio in the sky. You can even feel the building slightly sway at this altitude as you check out the endless panorama.

Stephen Gamson is an American artist born out of the communication age creating art with bold colors, iconic symbols and mass appeal. His art acts as a universal language that unites all people, places and cultures. A-list celebrities, corporations and art enthusiasts are among those collecting Gamson’s art. His commissions include Lamborghini, Café Bustelo, Select Vodka, Epicure Market, ad the City of Miami Beach among others. He dedicates numerous pieces and time for philanthropic causes.

Last May he went to the Monaco Grand Prix where he dedicated a painting signed by Prince Albert and Formula 1 champions to the Princess Grace Foundation. More recently, in 2010 he was the artist for “The Hearts and Stars Gala” benefiting The Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida (www.RMHCSouthFlorida.org) held at the waterfront home of George Wallner on Hibiscus Island. And just a few weeks ago, he was the artist for the “Pink and Blue for Two” Charity (www.pinkandbluefortwo.com) hosted by Olivia Newton John at the Raleigh Hotel in South Beach. Jon Secada did a surprise duet with Olivia that night to everyone’s delight. The event tagline, “Screen Together, LIV Together” was created to urge couples to screen for both types of cancer; breast and prostate.

Once again this year, Gamson was the official artist for the Miami Beach Polo World Cup (www.miamipolo.com ) on the sands of South Beach. Gamson created the official poster and t-shirts for the staff as well as plaques for the polo team winners. He also had a mini tent for spectators to meet and greet the artist and buy polo souvenir items and artwork from his equestrian collection of both paintings and horse sculptures.

As the season draws to a close in Miami, Gamson is gearing up for polo in the Hamptons and New Jersey, Bruce Springstein country! His popularity is growing and he and his art are in ever increasing demand. This fall season look for vehicles adorned in his artwork driving around the streets of NYC…more details to follow.

Stay tuned!
