Around the World: Johnny Smalls Takes the Small Plate on a Journey
Small plates get a rock and roll vibe now that Johnny Smalls has opened at the Hard Rock Hotel. Consider it your no-hassle approach to dining with no reservations, no sequence of service, no entrees and naturally no problems.
More than 50 shareable dishes take you on a journey around the world. Spanish tapas, Asian dim sum, Italian antipasti, Mediterranean mezze, Mexican antojitos, classic American starters and zesty original skewers all make the menu courtesy of Chef Scott Minervini.
Start at the restaurant’s center bar where more than 20 varieties of beer are served on tap or by the bottle. Or look to the cocktail list with its specialty libations such as the Mango Blossom, Chunky Monkey, Gobstopper and Monster Colada.
Then get ready to travel the world in one meal. Try the tater tots made with potato croquettes, parmesan and truffle oil; the surf and turf duo of filet bites and lobster served with vanilla butter and mint; alligator bites bathed in a Fat Tire Ale batter with Smack Ya Momma Remoulade; or the Mac & Cheese Daddy Sliders with fried mac and cheese, heirloom tomatoes, arugula and garlic aioli. But you must save room for the Small Balls, a creamy risotto with short ribs and parmesan fondue. For dessert, try the Grilled PB & J with a spicy marmalade.
Johnny Smalls is open from 5 to 11 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and for your late-night dining from 5 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday when you finish up at the clubs. Even though you don’t need reservations, you can get more information at 1.800.473.7625.
