55th Annual Drama Desk Awards

Founded in 1949, the Drama Desk has brought together critics and writers in hopes of continuously developing theater in New York. Since 1955, the organization also established their awards show and is the only organization to recognize achievements in theater that includes competition between Broadway, Off Broadway, and Off-Off Broadway.

This year’s festivities took place at LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center, where Patti LuPone hosted the elegant evening and nominees were invited to create personal sketches inspired by the role or stage production for which they were being recognized. Guests included Anne Hathaway, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas, Laura Linney, Viola Davis, Brooke Shields, Live Schreiber, and Cheyenne Jackson, among others.
