News | April 6, 2010

The Montgomerie

The Montgomerie Course covers more than 200 acres, has 18 holes and provides players with challenging undulating “links land” style fairways. In addition, there are 14 lakes and 72 bunkers giving it a different feel in comparison to the other more typical golf courses of the region. The course is also one of the signature hole designs; the par three thirteenth boasts the largest single green in the world. Facilities include a teaching academy as well as elegant dining facilities.

The Desert Course

Designed by Ian-Baker-Finch in collaboration with Nicklaus Design, it is located within Arabian Ranches, an impressive colonial ranch style clubhouse just a short drive outside of Dubai. To play on the par 72-course with floodlit driving range and a par 3 pitch and putt course is well worth the journey. Beautiful greenery is surrounded by rough desert landscape making the course at once a unique as well as challenging wonder.

Emirates Golf Course

Emirates Golf Course, located on Sheikh Zayed Road, is home to the renowned Dubai Desert Classic. The Majlis course is 7,101 yards and was once the first green facility in the region. It has become the foremost place for local tournaments. It is open from 8:30 a.m. until late.

Dubai Creek Golf Club

Located opposite Deira City Center shopping mall and next to the Park Hyatt Hotel, the Dubai Creek Golf Club has a floodlit 9-hole par 3 and 18-hole courses in addition to driving range and putting and chipping greens. The course is open seven days per week and is known for serving excellent food at various restaurants found in the Creek; a popular place among locals and foreigners.

Dubai Country Club

The Dubai Country Club was the first golf club in Dubai and opened in 1971. It has no grass as it did back then and offers a challenge for those who enjoy playing on sand.  It has 18 and nine-hole courses. Play off takes place on a patch of artificial turf or on “the browns” which are sandy but brushed regularly so as to guarantee a smooth ball. The Dubai Country Club is a place of character and history. You will feel like you are in the desert.
