Yas Hotel Now Open with World’s Greatest LED Setup

On October 30th, 2009, the the Yas Hotel finally received its own identity as it opened its doors to visitors and guests, as if being the face of yet another Architectural wonder of the United Arab Emirates to being at the heart of the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 circuit wasn’t enough. Also, it is the largest LED Project in the World that is controlled though a remote device management system. the hotel is located at the heart of all the racing action, as it is set to launch alongside the inaugural 2009 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

This gorgeous landmark was been built by Aldar Properties and designed by Asymptote Architecture. It is a 5-star, 500-room, 279,000-square-foot complex with a curved grid type shell having more than 5,300 diamond-shaped steel panels, and has as many as 5000 RGBW LED fixtures.

A New York based-lighting design firm Arup Lighting, used a lighting device by ‘e:cue lighting control’ to generate effects of changing colors and pre-defined 3D low-resolution video content on top the grid-shell. The hotel even has a sculpted-steel vehicle that runs on a passing bridge to commute between the two hotel wings even when the F1 races are on!
